It Shouldn't Hurt To Be A Child.

Agency Values

Children who stay in the shelter share none of the blame for their situation or for any of the trauma they have suffered. Regardless of their behavior, the expectation for each child is that he or she will be kind to others, take care of their personal responsiblities and continue to grow emotionally and physically, as well as learn, during their stay in our shelter.

Focus is on the child and what is best for him or her.

Children deserve to be treated with respect and dignity and they must feel lovable and worthwhile. They learn this through the actions of the adults in their lives.

If a grown-up makes a commitment or a promise to a child, it must be followed through with. Otherwise, do not make it in the first place.

Families are important and should have every opportunity to live together amicably. However, when this is not possible, the children deserve to be part of family where they are loved and valued.

Taxpayers, funders and other donors are to be respected and appreciated by the non-profits they support. GSMYC honors them by managing the agency in an ethical and frugal manner by keeping the administrative costs below 10%
