difficulties with divorce, separation or other family conflict by providing a neutral site for exchange

visitation terms of a decree or temporary order are carried out.

A parent hasn't seen his/her children for some time and would like help in re- establishing a
relationship with them.

BUT DO I REALLY NEED KIDS EXCHANGE?
Consider your children: Are they being caught in emotional, physical or verbal crossfire when your
former spouse comes over, or when you go to pick them up?
Children often feel divided loyalty when facing both parents after a divorce.
Children cover up pain and are often traumatized or anxious about exchanges.
Consider the convenience and peace of mind offered by the neutral exchange or by the provision of
supervised visitations.
It's not necessary to have a court order to use Kids Exchange.
Often both parents, after learning about Kids Exchange, experience the relief of a healthy decision
for their children.
Many parents who want to protect their children from unnecessary anxiety use Kids Exchange by
mutual agreement.
WILL MY CHILDREN LIKE KIDS EXCHANGE?
Kids Exchange provides knowledgeable, carefully chosen personnel to take care of your children
while they await their exchange or visits.

courts on site, as well as picnic tables, a swing set and other outdoor toys.

may have experienced emotional difficulties during their past exchanges or visits.
WHO ARE WE?
Kids Exchange is a group of dedicated professionals and students of the social sciences who try
to make the world an easier place to live for children of divorce. Children need support most when
their parents are preoccupied or in distress.
Kids Exchange has created a unique exchange environment where they can feel safe and know
that they don't have to be responsible for their parents. The children who are with Kids Exchange
know that staff can do what they cannot…bridge the gap between their parents.
WHAT ARE THE COSTS?
If parents are court-ordered to use Kids Exchange, the judge can determine which parent pays or if
the fees will be divided between the parents. Kids Exchange recommends sharing fees since the
service is for your children.

exchanges of children between custodial and non- custodial parents who reside in Hays County or
the surrounding areas.
Supervised visitation services assist in developing and/or maintaining quality relationships between
children and their non- custodial parents, who the court has determined require monitoring to
assure the safety and well being of the children.
During scheduled exchanges staff monitor the children during the interval between custodial and
non- custodial parent arrival and departure times. The staff relays any messages from one party to
the other regarding the child's health, medication or other relevant issues. The staff documents the
exchanges including behaviors noted, significant observations, and concerns by either party.
Those participating in Kids Exchange, including the children, are given a tour of the facility.
Children are also told they may speak or express concerns, before, during, or after any visit or
exchange.
Referrals are accepted from courts, attorneys, or self- referrals by clients. All parties must
complete the referral form and attach a copy of the court order for supervised visitation or
