Every child who stays with us in the shelter knows that he/she is one of our kids and always will be. Many keep in contact with us and many have received our help in gaining their independence.

Dear Children's Shelter,
A couple of weeks ago a gentleman came up to me and said "I know you from somewhere." He couldn't figure it out and I blew it off. On Saturday night the same gentlemen asked me if I ever lived in San Marcos. I told him yes. He then grabbed my arm and said "Big Sean, it's me!" Right away I realized it was someo...ne we took care of at the Children's Shelter 11 years ago. He was now a grown man with a very promising life and future. He thanked me several times for taking care of him and his siblings. He also said what we did for him has inspired him to go into the healthcare field. Guys, I know it gets difficult at times, but remember the impact you make on the children lasts a lifetime...

One of our recent ex-residents called this morning to let us know that she passed her certification exam for her chosen profession! We are so proud of her!

A young woman who was in our shelter approximately 15 years ago, came to visit not long ago bringing with her donations and good news. She is a professional with 2 beautiful children who wants to help us raise funds for our kids.

In today's mail we received a check with a volunteer application and a request to do something special for our kids on a monthly basis. There are some truly amazing people in this world, aren't there?!

We are happy and excited to announce the 12th Anniversary of Hays Nursing  Center’s generous contribution to the Children’s Shelter. Ms. Barbara and the kitchen staff continue to donate delicious dinners once a week to help feed the kids living at our Emergency Shelter. Thank you for proving such a valuable service.
